Indian Companies make a mark at FRANKFURT PAPER WORLD 2015. http://pssmagazine.com/FEB-2015 – Its good to visit PAPERWORLD, Messefrankfurt for the sixth consecutive year. World class manufacturers of stationery and paper from around the world come here to display their craft in this fair. We believe that show of this eminence and reach hold great importance for Indian manufacturers. It is at such international platforms that we can learn from these leading manufacturers of different countries about their best practices and designs. This year I felt very proud to see so many stalls of Indian companies of stationery industry. All the exhibitors from India had given special attention to the design and space of stalls to display their impressive range of products. Evidently it resulted in more business inquiries. I am assured that all the visitors were impressed by the quality of products at Indian stalls. The visitors appreciated that the quality of Indian products was at par with international standards. As far as international or European products are concerned one category that stood out is Hobby and Craft products. I was really surprised to see such aesthetic designs and bright colours. We really need to put in a lot of effort in this sector to even come close to their products. We need innovative designs and specialized tools. There is a huge market of such products – from beginners and amateur artists and craftsmen to professionals, all prefer imported products. Whereas I firmly believe that with little more efforts and changes in production techniques we can very well produce such products here in India. Bold decisions and clever marketing strategies can make the consumer to try our products. Once they come across such SKU (stock keeping units) and find that the quality is equally good they will surely prefer Indian products as they will get international quality at much lesser costs. It will be beneficial for all from consumers to industry to employment generation. It is just about the initial efforts and courage which I don’t think is a huge matter for Indian industry. To justify this I would give an example that this year at PAPERWORLD Indian products were available at reputed halls, where once only European companies were allowed to participate. This clearly shows that our companies can achieve the quality and gain market share all around the world. It is really gratifying to see that our industry has achieved high-end technology with sheer hard work and consistent improvement in products. This stands true especially for Industries like Pen, Office Tools and School Stationery. The products of Indian companies were appreciated by all the visitors. Most of them expressed that they were surprised to see such products that matched European quality standards at such value for money prices that even some leading products seemed distant second. There is no doubt that we have all the required infrastructure, skills and design capabilities to compete with Chinese products. All we need is courage and resolve to capture international market share. One thing that can really help us is to organize and promote such large scale events in India. I firmly believe that buying houses and companies from across the world will be more than eager to visit and exhibit in India. It will give a new vision and courage to Indian companies which do not visit or participate in overseas shows. With such an exposure at our own turf will help Indian companies to spread our products in markets around the world.
